what to expect

10 a.m. every Sunday.

Yes, you can find a link to our live-steam here. We also have links to previously recorded services on our YouTube channel.

We meet at 1529 3rd street, Fort Wayne IN 46808. Our building is on the corner of 3rd and Schilling. Look for our signs. Parking lot is in the back. Here’s a link to google maps.   We are in the center of our neighborhood, so you may need to check directions.

Our parking lot is behind the church and accessed off of Schilling Avenue. You are welcome to park on the street as well. There is limited parking and an access ramp in front of the church on Third Street for those with mobility concerns.

We are casual. More casual than most churches. A few dress up, some come from the campground smelling like a campfire.  All are welcome. We care about you, not what you are wearing.

A diverse group, liberal and conservative, young and old, rich and poor, …mostly people who don’t have it all together. You’ll find people who are friendly and warm. People who struggle with life, people who struggle with doubt. People who grew up in church, and people checking out church for the first time.

We like meeting new people, so don’t be surprised if folks want to chat after service.

Believe it or not we are happy to be a church with people who:

  • Sit on both sides of the political aisle.
  • Agree to disagree on some things.
  • Are on a journey to understand ourselves, our Lord, and the world around us.
  • Admit our doubts, confess our failures, and work on our shortcomings.
  • Like to have fun and fellowship.
  • Desire true community. Growing closer to Jesus and to one another.
  • Think the Bible is fascinating, inspiring and sometimes confusing.
  • Want to make a difference by bringing hope and healing locally and abroad.

From adults to kids, you are important to us. We offer age-appropriate ministries for kids and students during Sunday service. You’ll also find Bible studies, plenty of special events, and groups for men and women to help you stay connected to God and each other. Please click on our Calendar for more information about these ministries.

We like ‘em! You should bring them!  Kids are welcome to participate in worship as they are able. We offer a nursery during our service for 0–4-year-olds.

We also offer a children’s class during the last half of our worship service.

Elementary age kids enjoy activities and singing songs together, all centered on learning the great stories of the Bible. Anchor also partners with Lexi’s Voice for special events and activities.

The MS/HS Youth meet downstairs after singing with everyone in the sanctuary. This class and all of our fun events are led by our team of youth leaders and parents.

*All of our youth and children’s workers attend child-safety training and are screened with background checks.

Yes, we do. We care about people in our city, and around the world. Locally we support the work of Redemption House, Lexi’s Voice, Community Harvest, Neighborlink, and Associated Churches. We support a handful of missionaries, and partner with our denomination’s missionary branch called UBGlobalWe volunteer many hours and give a portion of our budget to local charities, missionaries, and other ministries.

Well… his wife and his mother think so.

Absolutely.  We have coffee, tea and a few snacks each morning.

We start at 10am and finish around 11:15am.

Contemporary worship with guitar, bass, and drums. We’re not afraid to try brand new songs, or to play a hymn when it adds to worshiping our Lord.

We’re rooted in Scripture, prayer, worship, and sacraments like Communion and Baptism. We aren’t looking for an audience just to come, sit, and listen. We want to engage you; not just have you watch. You’ll also find that we are honest about our shortcomings, and that we genuinely celebrate God’s amazing grace.

The best way to see what it’s like is to come check us out!

One of the most interesting things we do at Anchor is called Sermon Sequel. After the sermon, the pastor moderates a discussion that gives the church an opportunity to share their thoughts on the message, the Scripture, and on the work of God in their lives.
